Supermodel/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is the new face of Ugg. The brand announced today in a press release that Huntington-Whiteley will be Ugg’s first-ever global women’s brand ambassador and she’ll appear in the fall 2016 campaign.
It might seem like a weird choice, but the model claims that she wears Uggs all the time. “When I started modeling one of the first things I ever purchased was a pair of Classic boots as comfort to me is everything,” she says in the release.
Shot by Richard Stow, Ugg’s images with the British star show her posing in a flower stall at the Daylesford Organic Farm in Gloucestershire. English-rose associations aside, Ugg seems just as interested in Huntington-Whiteley’s street style star status.
“It was important to partner with someone who has a natural love and affinity for the brand, but who could also translate the new street-style features and benefits into their everyday on-the-go lifestyle,” Ugg’s senior director of global public relations Alice Hampton told WWD. This is how the model’s styling her Uggs these days, per Who What Wear: with a black choker and all-black outfit.
Huntington-Whiteley isn’t the only high-profile celeb recently enlisted by Ugg, which has turned ugly but comfy sheepskin-lined boots into a $1.3 billion brand. Ugg campaign stars in the past few years have included Chrissy Teigen and model Carolyn Murphy. Also, who could forget Tom Brady’s long career as an Ugg spokesperson?
